In a year that shall be hallmarked by its crazy weather and unprecedented events, we have just seen another first. The Dowd Junction recreation trail has already reopened for the 2012 summer season. In a move sure to please the Valley’s bikers, roller bladers and walkers, the opening is several weeks earlier than most years due to the early warm weather, so while it may be bad for our snowpack, there is always a silver lining to those with their eyes on the sunshine! Opening the path requires the installation of a wildlife protection screen which allows for continued use of the path during the deer migration season, which you will see on your drive through Down Junction. The Town of Vail anticipates that the entire path through the upper part of the Valley will be open by April 20th.
