Vacation-Home Sales Warm From Sun Belt To Ski Resorts

After a sharp climb in 2013, vacation-home sales are expected to stay buoyant this year, though they may rise more slowly than last year’s frenzied pace. A rising stock market that has lifted financial resources for high-net-worth buyers, low interest rates and savory deals have prompted more people to move off the sidelines and buy a second home. Real estate brokers in resort locales from Colorado’s Vail to Massachusetts’ Cape Cod report second-residence buying activity has gained momentum this year, with prospects good for the second half. High-end deals lifted the average Vail home sale to $936,265 this year, up 32% from ’13, RealtyTrac data show. View Enlarged Image Nationwide, sales of homes intended for personal vacation use rose 29.7% last year to 717,000 properties, according to the National Association of Realtors investment-and vacation-home buyers survey. Vacation-home sales accounted for 13% of all transactions in 2013, their highest market share since 2006. Still, they were about a third below the peak activity in 2006. Vail Summer Bluegrass 2014 Brings Live Music to the Vail Valley

                    During the summer season, the schedule of cultural events in the Vail Valley seems boundless. This summer at the Arrabelle at Vail Square in Lionshead, lovers of bluegrass music will have the incredible opportunity to enjoy four free bluegrass concerts as part of the 2014 Vail Summer Bluegrass Series. The bluegrass concert series begins on July 2 with The Travelin’ McCourys, who will be performing with Bill Nershi of the String Cheese Incident. The next concert, on July 16, will feature the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band. Talented vocalist, Sarah Jarosz, will perform on August 13. The final concert in the series will be held on August 27, during which the Drew Emmitt Band will perform. The four concerts begin at 5:00 pm. Though the Vail Summer Bluegrass concerts are free, preferred seating tickets are available for purchase at $25 each.
