Valley-based shops pick out the latest, greatest and most innovative products for the winter season. ================= The accessories Bar Mitts – $64.95 From the back of Moontime, when talking about snow biking, you can hear someone yell out, “Tell him about the mitts.” The mitts the voice refers to are called Bar Mitts, made by Bar Mitts. The idea came straight out of the kayakers handbook for pogies, but works well for winter biking. The Bar Mitts fit right over a handlebar, allowing the rider to easily slip their hands in and out of the mitts. It’s large enough to fit a light glove, making it much easier to handle anything, like drinking for inevitably fixing something. Moontime snow wheels – $600 to $900 Frank at Moontime is a bit of an engineer. He built a hybrid mountain bike/snow bike wheel that can fit on any mountain bike frame. Stunning yellow aspen trees, perfect temperatures, beautiful mountain scenery, and special prix fixe menus at local restaurants all signify this year’s inaugural Vail and Beaver Creek Restaurant Week Dining at Altitude. Vail and Beaver Creek Restaurant Week started on September 27, and continues through October 6. At just over a week long, this culinary event features a $20.13 special menu at select restaurants in Vail Village, Lionshead, Golden Peak, and West Vail. Vail and Beaver Creek Restaurant Week diners can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and happy hour specials all for $20.13. For a casual breakfast, Loaded Joe’s Vail is offering two breakfast burritos and two large lattes for $20.13. For more of an upscale dining experience, Terra Bistro’s prix fixe breakfast includes a breakfast entrée, coffee, juice, and a breakfast cocktail for the same price. After a delicious breakfast, enjoy a hike on Vail Mountain before heading back into Vail for a special Restaurant Week lunch.
