Beaver Creek’s Master Chef Classic

By | Vail Real Estate | No Comments

Looking for something to do in the Vail Valley this weekend? Check out this weekend’s Master Chef Classic in Beaver Creek! The Master Chef Classic, presented by food and lifestyle magazine Bon Appetit, kicks Beaver Creek from posh mountain resort to culinary hotspot. Pastry classes, cocktail demonstrations, and snowy rambles finished with multi-course meals are all part of the program. But the festival’s signature event is the Master Chef Challenge, an Iron-Chef-style cooking competition that pairs up local and celebrity chefs, and pits them against each other. Each team is given a workspace, a pantry of staples, a secret ingredient and 20 minutes to create two dishes. Bon Appetit Editor-in-Chief Adam Rapoport and Bon Appetit wine and spirits consultant Steven Olson will taste each dish and decide on the winners of the round. The same thing happens for round two. The winners from the first two rounds meet up in round three, which determines the overall winner. See this weekend’s schedule of events below: Master Chef Schedule Friday • Subaru Snowshoe Excursion and Luncheon(sold out) at Beaver Creek Nordic Center & Grouse Mountain Grill with Guest Chef Stephanie Izard; 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., $100. • Cooking class (sold out)…

As the economy begins to show signs of improvement, Vail finds itself in an advantageous position. Adding to the town’s charm and ambiance are the completion of many improvements slated in “Vail’s Billion Dollar Renewal,” including new water features, heated streets, notable landscaping and numerous sculptures. With the World Ski Championships once again held in Vail/Beaver Creek in 2010 and another round of Alpine World Ski Championships confirmed for 2015, it is no wonder Vail is consistently ranked as an international top ski resort in SKI Magazine. Vail received another boost this week, as Vail Resorts released a report with facts and figures validating that this ski season is better than last. The report states that, “certain ski season metrics for the comparative periods from the beginning of the ski season through January 6, 2011, and for the prior year period through January 7, 2010” and that its ski season business so far is running ahead of last year’s numbers. According to the report, revenue at all resorts is up, from lift tickets to ski rentals and lodging as well as the total number of skier days. “Our early season visitation was strong, especially as our growing season pass holder…

Eagle County Regional Airport

By | Vail Real Estate | No Comments

The Eagle County Airport may have direct international flights as early as next winter. The airport hired consulting firm, The Boyd Group, to study whether international flights are feasible. Boyd says, “ The Vail Valley is a world-class resort right now, so having (an international terminal) would be very important, if not a necessity. This is a world-class destination and a world-class facility where people will be flying in their business jets, which would be important for the community.” Nonstop flights are possible from both Canada and Mexico. International flights from Europe would need a refueling station along the way, but the plane could make that stop quickly without unloading the passengers. Stakeholders and airport officials will review the Boyd Group’s study to establish the next steps to take.
